Effect of ‘Antioxidant’ Nutraceuticals on Cellular Sulfur Metabolism and Signaling: An alternative Therapeutic Approach
Prof. Kenneth Olson, from Indiana University (USA), will give an oral presentation entitled Effect of ‘Antioxidant’ Nutraceuticals on Cellular Sulfur Metabolism and Signaling: An alternative Therapeutic Approach - during Paris Redox 2022.
There is a growing literature on the health benefits of nutraceuticals with ‘antioxidant’ properties, however, their mechanisms of action are less clear. In this talk, Prof. Olson will discuss the similarities and differences between reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive sulfide species (RSS) and describe the cytoprotective attributes conferred by manipulating the latter. He will also provide examples of how widely different nutraceuticals positively affect cellular sulfur metabolism and how this can explain many of their health benefits and focus future research to augment their therapeutic efficacy.
Stay tuned to know more about this subject this June.
