Redox Medicine: Now and Tomorrow
Prof. Helmut Sies, from Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf in Germany, will be introducing Paris Redox 2022 Congress with a talk on "Redox Medicine: Now and Tomorrow. The Role of Physiological Redox Signaling".
In his talk, Prof. Sies will discuss how hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is a central physiological redox signaling molecule, targeting specific cysteines in proteins which act as molecular redox switches to activate transcription factors in defense against oxidative stress.
He will cover the current approaches in redox medicine including therapeutic prooxidants and therapeutic antioxidants which and present future pharmacological approaches.
Prof. Sies was the one who founded the concept of "Oxidative Stress".
