VictorDarleyUsmarOn behalf of Scientific Committee of 12th ISANH Antioxidants World Congress 2013, we are pleased to welcoming Pr Victor Darley-Usmar. Pr Darley-Usmar will give a talk on How New Concepts in Redox Biology Changes Strategies for the Development of Antioxidants.

The impact of this talk that it will argue that since redox signaling is controlled by cellular domains targeting plasma antioxidant status is not a useful strategy.

Victor Darley-Usmar, Ph.D. is Professor of Pathology and Director of the Center for Free Radical Biology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. His interest in mitochondria started during his Ph.D. studies at the University of Essex under the mentorship of Dr. Mike Wilson and was subsequently pursued with his post doctoral studies at the University of Oregon with Dr. Rod Capaldi. After a brief period Teaching and doing research at the University of Tsukuba in Japan he returned to the UK to join the Wellcome Research Foundation in Beckenham Kent where he initiated projects in the then new field of free Radical biology. On the merger of the company with Glaxo in 1995 he joined the Free Radical Group at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and now leads a research group investigating the role of mitochondria and redox cell signaling with a particular emphasis on nitric oxide.
