Regulation of Oxidative Stress and Cell Death by Lysosomal Iron
The Organizing Committee of the Paris Redox 2020 congress is honored to welcome Prof. Jonathan D. Geiger from University of North Dakota, USA.
During the congress, Prof. Geiger will present his study with the talk entitled "Regulation of Oxidative Stress and Cell Death by Lysosomal Iron".
Summary of the presentation: Pathologically, mitochondrial iron overload and iron-based oxidative stress have been observed. Others and we have shown that endolysosomes are storage sites of ferrous iron (Fe2+). However, the degree to which and the mechanisms by which endolysosome iron plays a role in mitochondrial iron accumulation and cell injury remains uncertain. Here, we will discuss findings that redox-active Fe2+ in endolysosomes plays a key upstream role in mitochondrial iron accumulation and dysfunction.
