COVID-19: Immunopathology, Pathophysiological Mechanisms, and Treatment Options
Dr. Larissa Van Eijk from University Medical Center Groningen, The Netherlands will join the Paris Redox 2021 Congress and give a presentation entitled "COVID-19: Immunopathology, Pathophysiological Mechanisms, and Treatment Options".
Dr. Van Ejik will focus on the progression of COVID-19. This progression is resulting from a complex interplay between multiple pathophysiological mechanisms, among which the immunopathological response to SARS-CoV-2 is a pivotal player in determining disease course. Excessive inflammation is a hallmark of COVID-19, which is thought to interplay with oxidative stress in causing pulmonary and systemic injury. This talk will review the main immunopathological changes observed in COVID-19, as these provided us with valuable insights into COVID-19 pathophysiology and substantiated the use of immune-related treatment options.
